This is a true first-year T-40, the first I have ever had the privilege of owning either as a player and later, a dealer. Once owned by Shorty the Bass Man, who I met a few times at guitar shows over the years. He was the groove personified and this bass has a mojo all its own. I'm going to play this one for a few weeks and then decide whether to swap it out with one of my own T-40 basses. This is an especially good-sounding one with an ash body and maple neck and the early version of the famous Peavey pickups. It's definitely a very early production run because the decal just says 'Patents Applied For' beneath the Peavey logo. This one weighs a mere 10 lbs and comes with all the paperwork and the rare & early rectangular case with formfit interior.
